Instagram is more saturated than it has ever been and yet a big part of its audience is beginning to prefer Tik Tok over Instagram. Why is that? Let me explain.
For those who are not on Tik Tok, let me explain the big difference of it from Instagram
Tik Tok is all about authenticity. To be popular there you don’t have to have amazing looks, successful life or even taste. People that are super honest and relatable, or are creative, or are good storytellers and have a sense of humour get the most attention there. Of course educational / inspirational videos also get popular, but not as much as personal.
What do people on Tik Tok say about Instagram
People keep saying that they barely ever open instagram cause they feel too much pressure here. Like if everything had to be absolutely perfect: curated images, curated thoughts, curated life. All that mixed with the amount of ads on this platform is just killing the whole experience
Basically people are craving authenticity that once was the reality of instagram, but now it became a big glossy magazine.
How did I apply this analyse to my content plan
While I completely relate to the “Show me somethin' natural like ass with some stretch marks” (Kendrick Lamar), I am an adept of curated imagery. Solution: keep it pretty, but keep it real. I share a lot of the behind the scenes, my hobbies, routine, relationships and thoughts outside of the entrepreneurship & design world. So you follow me first of all because of who I am and secondly for my knowledge and services. It keeps us closer.
